The Impact of Area Action Plan Option 2e
Blight
It is the responsibility of MDSC to put forward discussion documents for the improvement of it's area. However prior to the release of these documents there should be careful consideration of the impact of these plans. We believe that MSDC have failed to adequately consider the effects of option 2e. This option represents a proposal to build an A clasification road (it relieves the A22 and A264) directly adjoing homes in the following roads:
Imberhorne Lane
Bluebell Close
Campbell Crescent
The Blytons
Gardenwood Road
Blount Avenue
Burns Way
Dickens Close
Sheridan Place
Kipling Way
Shelley Road
Grosvenor Road
Crescent Road
Maypole Road
Newlands Crescent
London Road
Property sales have already been lost in these roads and they are all effectively blighted. Local estate agents suggest value drops of around 15% within days of the plans being released for consultation.
No Respite
The whole point of a relief road is that it reduces the amount of traffic in the area it relieves. Yet MSDC's own projections indicate that traffic levels on all main routes in East Grinstead will rise following the building of a relief road. If the construction of a relief road has the effect of increasing traffic levels, surely the money would be better spent on footpaths, cycleways and other alternative routes that are proven to get people out of their cars. Facilities like Worth Way.

An Eyesore
Currently Worth Way forms a leafy divide between Blount Avenue and the roads to the south. MSDC have created artists impressions that suggest this will be reinstated. This is not the case. Click here to see a more realistic interpretation of the plan.
