The Worth Way, a designated Site of Nature Conservation Importance, and Linear Country Park, follows a 11km (7 mile) disused railway line from East Grinstead to Three Bridges, near Crawley. Combined with the Forest Way Country Park in East Sussex it offers the walker a 27 km (17 mile) route through classic High Weald scenery between Three Bridges and Groombridge, on the Kent/East Sussex border and provides a peaceful setting for walking, cycling and riding.
Mid Sussex District Council have proposed plans to build a 62ft WIDE RELIEF ROAD along the route of Worth Way and St Margaret's Loop to provide a transport link from a proposed large scale development of 2500 homes. One fall of the construction axe will destroy 150 year old trees, a wildlife corridor of immeasurable significance and the integrity of this beautiful and popular recreation path.
WE MUST OPPOSE THE PLANS.
